Serena Williams opened the runway show for Vogue World during New York Fashion Week on Monday.

As a recording of Williams’ memorable 2000 NBC interview played in the background, she was joined by four “ball girls” dressed in white tennis outfits and carrying rackets.

“I want people to remember me as the girl who changed tennis or who was able to bring something new to the game,” she said in the clip.

It makes sense for her to attend the event. In her story on the cover of her September issue of Vogue, Williams announced that she was retiring from tennis to focus on her family. She fronted the magazine in a powder blue Balenciaga gown and was joined by her daughter Olympia.

This wasn’t Williams’ first runway moment, but she made her debut at Off-White’s Fall 2022 show following the unexpected death of designer Virgil Abloh.

Meanwhile, stars like Kanye West, Lori Harvey, Kourtney Kardashian, Travis Barker, Keke Palmer, Doja Cat, and Jared Leto watched from the front row.

Models wore new looks from the Fall/Winter 2022 collection, including Balenciaga, Dior, Gucci, Valentino, Burberry, Coach, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, Diesel, Banana Republic and Tory Burch, at the stylish ‘street fair’. It also included collaborations with iconic New York eateries and well-known brands such as Michael Kors x Katz Deli’s and Banana Republic x Magnolia Bakery.

To cap off the celebration, Lil Nas X performed their hit “Industry Baby.”
