Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania – Deputy Secretary of Education, Dr. Deborah Carrera, visited Jim Thorpe Area High School today to thank employees for their service, talk about what students are looking forward to in the upcoming school year, and kick off the new school year Did.

“We are proud of our students and teachers across the Commonwealth and are so excited to see them smiling and ready to learn for the new school year,” said Carrera. “I know they will learn a lot, work hard and do great things in this school year. I would like to express Your dedication and dedication has not gone unnoticed and we are so proud of you every day. ”

During her visit, Carrera spoke with teachers, administrators, and staff about the important work they do and how the PDE supports strategic teacher recruitment and retention through the Pennsylvania Educator Workforce Strategy. In addition to recruiting and retaining education professionals throughout the Commonwealth, the Wolfe Administration is pursuing a commitment to education and workforce development programs to extend quality education to more Pennsylvanians. Beginning in 2022, his 23-year budget will lay a strong foundation for Pennsylvania’s future workers, citizens, and leaders.

In his latest budget, Gov. Tom Wolfe stepped up our commitment to education at all levels with a historic $1.8 billion increase in investment. Over the past eight years, he has secured his $3.7 billion increase in education funding.

“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Carrera to the Jim Thorpe Area School District and provide him with the opportunity to see our current programs and voice our concerns about PDE. Superintendent Robert Presley said, “The effect of having caring and knowledgeable teachers in front of students. We are grateful to be able to put them in front and have the help and support of the PDE to provide them with the type of education they deserve.”

The Jim Thorpe Area School District spans approximately 150 square miles and serves approximately 1,900 students at three facilities. The district also proudly partners with other educational providers, including the Right From the Start program (Birth to His Five Years, Pre-K Counts, Dual Enrollment Program in partnership with Lehigh Carbon Community College, and more).
