MARBURY, Alabama (WSFA) – “Children are our future” is the motivation for Autauga County Schools for one of its latest advancements.
On Monday, school officials cut the ribbon to celebrate the addition of Marbury High School’s new agricultural sciences and a new life skills classroom for special education students.
“This is an absolute game changer. Very excited. The kids have been in high spirits since we opened,” said Lyman Woodfin, principal of Marbury High School.
The new Agricultural Technology Building has eight classrooms where students can learn everything from welding and wiring to general construction.
Woodfin said the school will not only benefit students, but also help strengthen the local workforce.
Just above the hall is the new addition of a brand new Life Skills classroom for Marbury special education students like Larissa Ross.
Larissa says she enjoyed being named Homecoming Princess, but her parents were most proud of the skills she learned working at Life Skills Coffee Shop.
The students started enjoying their new progress last week.
Woodfin said it cost up to $8 million.
