Eclipse Ambassador | Science Mission Directorate
Are you an eclipse-loving astronomy enthusiast or an undergraduate? Passionate about sharing the wonders of space science with the community? NASA might give you a chance. Hmm.
Two solar eclipses will cross the United States in 2023 and 2024, and Eclipse Ambassadors Off the Path, a new NASA-funded program, enlists college students and amateur astronomers as “eclipse ambassadors for NASA partners.” I am inviting you. This is an opportunity to partner with NASA to provide solar-gazing glasses and share eclipse knowledge with underserved communities far off the beaten track.
Eclipse Ambassadors will train together virtually in one of several workshops offered over the next year. The partnership of Eclipse Ambassadors grows together, learns new tools and techniques to explain eclipses, and engages the public. As a NASA partner, Eclipse Ambassadors are recognized for their commitment to public engagement and are provided with educational materials and community connections.
Eclipse Ambassadors do the following:
- Partner with College Students/Amateur Astronomers
- Take a 3-week online course (~12 hours of coursework)
- Provide community eclipse resources by reaching over 200 people
This is an open call to become an Eclipse Ambassador. Apply here: eclipseambassadors.org
