MANHATTAN, Kansas (WIBW) – K State University of Agriculture hosted the NASA Earth Sciences Division on Friday, August 26th. One of his NASA officials, Brad Doorn, told people what they were doing and how they could help farmers. They use satellites and other technologies to collect data on weather patterns, climate, water and air quality. NASA hopes to share such information with farmers and ranchers to help them make decisions about planting, irrigation, and management practices so they can build appropriate satellites to help collect data.

Doorn talked about how he traveled around the country to get feedback from farmers and try to help them solve their specific problems. “Also, tell me you need to be more dynamic and more nuanced in how you provide information so that farmers know they want to own that decision. Farmers are beginning to report their problems and concerns to NASA, and when they receive the information, they will take it and provide them with the right amount of resources to create a solution.
