Hillsboro Education Association endorses two BOE candidates in November election
With a focus on enhancing collaboration between community stakeholders and the future of our school district, the Hillsborough Education Association has established a review board with members from across the school district. Many of them live in Hillsborough themselves.
Chaired by Bob Fenster, Member of Parliament for the Hillsborough Education Association (HEA) and social studies teacher at Hillsborough High School, the committee asked all candidates for the Board of Education (BOE) to answer questions, Participated in live interviews conducted via Zoom, providing an opportunity to discuss individual platforms and visions. For Hillsboro Township Public Schools. Three candidates returned the required information, attended the screening, and were considered.
Candidates were given a questionnaire consisting of 10 questions on various topics. We then asked another series of varied questions in a virtual interview. Our goal was to fully understand each candidate and their position to make an informed recommendation.
Following the process, the HEA Review Board nominated Hillsboro BOE’s Danny Lee and Josh Gamse to the HEA’s governing body, which is made up of more than 70 representatives from across the district. This recommendation was unanimously approved.
After carefully reviewing all the information, the committee decided that Josh Gamse and Danny Lee deserve our endorsement. We believe their professional experience in biotechnology and IT (Information Technology) client service management will bring a variety of perspectives. Their priorities include improving transparency and communication, financial responsibility, and protecting academic excellence in schools.
Hillsboro Township’s schools, businesses, township, police and fire departments are top notch, and the community is often recognized as one of the best places to live. Partnerships with all stakeholders have allowed Hillsboro schools to meet many challenges while continuing to provide the excellent education the district is known for.
Our district faces considerable challenges these days, but how collaboration and fact-based decisions can guide our schools through these turbulent times and protect the quality education provided to our students. Most recently, cooperation between the Board, the administration, the local New Jersey legislature, Senate representatives, and the HEA resulted in an additional $1 million in funding from the state. The funds will be used to support students and repair damage from Ida.
We share the goal of providing excellent education through the engagement of all stakeholders and are proud to support board candidates in their pursuit of what is “best for BORO”.
