Governor Ricketts comments on US Department of Education’s proposed Title IX amendments and asks Nebraskans for comment
Lincoln – Today, Governor Pete Ricketts submitted his comments on the Title IX amendments proposed by the US Department of Education. This change deliberately misinterprets and misapplies the Supreme Court’s opinion to expand the definition of “sex discrimination” to include gender identity, sexual orientation, and sexual characteristics. This radical redefinition of Title IX would end the segregation of restrooms, changing rooms, and other intimate facilities in schools on the basis of biological sex and instead segregate them on the basis of gender identity. Become. This change ignores actual law, history, the purpose of Title IX, and the biological sciences.
Among other concerns, the governor’s comments highlighted how the proposed changes would undermine parental rights. It appears to be able to protect sensitive personal information about minor children from parents,” the comment letter reads. “This deprives parents of the right to make decisions for their minor children and prevents them from helping their children through the challenging and often difficult experience of gender dysphoria. Most have been shown to move out of that turmoil by adulthood.Parents should play a leading role in helping children navigate their experiences, You can’t do that if you haven’t been told from the beginning that you feel a gender mismatch.
