WASHINGTON, PA (August 16) – The Washington Wilds beat the Y’alls 7-3 to extend their eighth straight win over Florence at Ladies Night Out presented by Range Resources. Washington scored in four straight innings and struck out 10 batters in the win.
After falling behind 3-0, Washington brought the offense to life. Anthony Brocato made his debut for the Wild Things against his former team, shorting his RBI groundout to score Jared Mann and put Washington on the board. Wagner Lagrange hit an RBI double in that same inning to make it a one-run game.
With back-to-back solo home runs by Ian Walters and Tristan Peterson in the fourth to take a 4-3 lead, the Wild Things never looked back. Lagrange hit an RBI single in the fifth, and Brokart scored his second on a sacrifice fly, scoring Mann in the sixth to make it 6–3. Mang hit a sacrifice fly in his eighth inning and as his run on insurance he made it 7-3.
In the top of the ninth, Christian James remained on the mound after appearing in the eighth inning. He struck out the first batter before allowing the next batter to double. Another strikeout by James and a pop fly to Ward ended the game. James stole four batters in two innings on the save.
