Travis Paden aims to leverage his teaching experience with the Council.politics

A 26-year veteran in the field of education, Travis Paden credits his father for inspiring his desire to become a teacher and to see his community thrive.

That’s the thinking that led Padden to compete with incumbent Amanda Saltley for Hanford’s District A seat on the Hanford City Council.

“he [Paden’s father] It has taught me a lot about the importance of leadership and serving people, and the importance of creating an environment that creates memories,” Padden said in an interview.

Paden has worked at Hanford for the past eight years as a member of the City Planning Commission. She served as chairman for two years and is now vice chairman.

When asked why he was running for city council, Padden said, “I’ve always wanted to give back to the community.

Chain Strawn Announces Candidacy for Hanford City Council

Paden is a second generation Hanford native whose mother came from a local dairy farm. He has spent his life living and working in Hanford while raising his family as part of the community.

As part of the Hanford community, he says he wants to do his part to make Hanford a place where people can live happily, where families can grow and thrive, and where they can invest in the city.

This is District A’s first formal campaign, but when the former alderman announced his retirement in April 2021, Padden was one of 11 candidates to fill John Draxler’s seat.

Paden was one of the top four contenders. On June 3, 2021, the city council voted her 3-2 to make the decision to appoint current city councilor Amanda Saltley, who has completed Draxler’s term.

Paden believes one of the biggest concerns his voters have is transparency from city leadership. One of his goals is to provide clear communication with voters so that Hanford residents are well informed and informed of what is happening before decisions are made. .

“That’s a concern,” Padden said. “If they don’t know about a major purchase underway or a major issue, they [citizens] deprived of rights. ”

Another goal of Paden is to take a proactive approach to city leadership and encourage community members to be proactive as well. He said the more informed the Security Council and the public are, the more proactive they can be instead of being reactive.

Former Hanford Mayor Francisco Ramirez Seeks Re-Election for City Council

Paden’s campaign focuses on several topics. First, he is a strong advocate of public safety. His one of his concerns is helping improve the Hanford Police Department, which was built in 1976.

Paden also wants to maintain a level of financial and personal responsibility. He said there has been a lot of concern about the issue with the city council in recent years, which has led to Purden’s call for transparency.

Finally, Padden’s focus, like his educators, is to invest in future generations of Hanford residents and make it a place families want to come and make memories.
