GRANTS PASS, Oregon — Rogue Community College held a grand opening on Tuesday at its Redwood campus to showcase its new Science Education Center.
The new building will be a one-stop-shop for students, staff, and anyone else involved in RCC’s science programs.
Michelle Smith, RCC Science Lab Technician, said: “Beautiful and convenient. We love it.”
Science programs are a popular course of action for RCC students and are now bigger and better than before.
“The vast majority of students who earn a degree or certificate from RCC take a science program as part of their curriculum,” said Randy Weber, president of RCC. “Having the ability to update a 40+ year old lab with today’s technology was a critical need met.”
Faculty, students, community members and even local representatives attended Tuesday’s grand opening, including RCC alumnus Rep. Lily Morgan.
“This is a great result,” Morgan said. “The efforts of staff, faculty, all board members and the community to support this building and support the education of the community into the future are commendable.”
RCC students will see the same friendly and welcoming staff faces, but everything else in the science building will be brand new, including classrooms, laboratories, lecture halls and greenhouses.
