Hosted by Chicago Pre-College Science and Engineering Program (ChiS&E) Orientation and registration sessions for free programs in Mathematics, Science, Engineering, Computer Programming, Advanced Robotics, Chemistry and Physics this Saturday, September 17th at Kenwood Academy. Orientation will be held from 10am to 12:30pm at his 5015 S. Blackstone in Chicago. A rigorous preparatory program is available to his CPS students in grades K-12 and includes internship opportunities at the University of Illinois at Urbana and the University of Chicago.
The program is designed to prepare historically underrepresented African American and Latino students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). , was started 12 years ago. In 2021, 80% of his graduates participating in this program will have a secondary education in computer science, engineering, or science. The ChiS&E program aligns with the White House’s best practices for diversity and inclusion in STEM, stating that it “fosters partnerships and collaborations, provides young people with authentic and culturally relevant STEM engagement experiences, Emphasizes the importance of “involving good leaders”.
ChiS&E’s special team-building approach fosters collaboration between parents and teachers, engaging both students and parents in hands-on science and engineering activities. Grade-level programs are specifically designed to develop mathematics concepts as early as kindergarten. Additionally, the program hosts sessions with his STEM role models from a variety of disciplines, including scientists, mathematicians, university presidents, and NASA engineers. The Group’s partnership extends to the Kellogg Foundation and the Boeing Foundation.
More than 90% of ChiS&E students surveyed said the program had a positive impact on their learning process. Also, in their final year of high school, last year’s graduate is enrolled in advanced math and science courses, with many majoring in precalculus, calculus, AP calculus, and quite a few taking her AP physics major. I was. Student college options include HBCUs, public and private institutions, and ChiS&E’s partner institution, the University of Illinois.
“Our method of rigorous research, robust external programs, parental involvement, and mentorship from successful people in these fields has been central to our program’s success over the past 12 years.” said. Kenneth Hill, CEO of ChiS&E“Academic performance across the board has declined significantly as a result of the pandemic, and we want to ensure that students of color have every opportunity to excel in their future math and science-driven careers.”
