Ribbon Cut Marks Launch of Fort Drum’s Starbase Academy for Science Learning | Fort Drum

FORT DRUM — The Department of Defense’s Starbase Academy concluded its first full week of classes for local fifth graders on Friday afternoon with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony at Fort Drum.
STARBASE offers a science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or STEM curriculum for 5th graders in 25 hours of hands-on curriculum per week. Children arrive at the garrison around 9:30am and stay until 2:30pm. At the end of the week, the kids have graduated and the next week a new group of students arrives.
