Queen Maxima of the Netherlands visited the Kerr Community Center in Bastrop on September 8th to hear from local youth about their mental health perspectives and needs. During the Queen’s stay in Bastrop, she was not only able to develop rapport with youth representatives in Bastrop County, but was also able to get to the heart of society’s need for a youth perspective. .

Bastrop County Cares, Youth Building Networks for Change and the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health are developing safe spaces designed to help young people listen to each other and heal.

The Bastrop County Commissioner’s Court has signed a proclamation to make September 8th Youth Mental Health Day in Bastrop County in support of local mental health initiatives.
