- Queen Elizabeth once told Anna Wintour that she used to appear in fashion shows before becoming a monarch.
- The pair went to London Fashion Week together in 2018.
- “She was so happy to tell me that she had been in fashion shows long before she became queen,” Winter said.
Before becoming queen at the age of 25, Queen Elizabeth II used to appear in fashion shows.
In a Vogue article, Winter recalled sitting at designer Richard Quinn’s show just before he was presented with the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design.
The Queen said, “I was very happy to tell you that I had been in fashion shows long before I became queen,” Winter said in a tribute.
She continued, “She envelops and lights up the room with her joy and humor. An everyday occurrence for Her Majesty and an unforgettable occasion for us.”
Queen Elizabeth died at her home in Balmoral on Thursday at the age of 96. Her son, Charles, was soon appointed king.
“For 70 years, Her Majesty has been a constant light and the perfect example of someone who lived according to a clearly defined set of values.
“We often hear about the end of an era, but there is no question that Her Majesty has passed away after decades of dedicated service,” said Winter, adding, “I felt for her The admiration and respect never diminished,” he added.
Although her 2018 Fashion Week appearance with Winter was the Queen’s first ever appearance, she is a fashion icon in her own right, and throughout her unprecedented 70-year reign, she wore a wide variety of suits and outfits. Of course I was wearing a hat.
