Bridgeport, West Virginia (WBOY) – Mon Health System, now part of Vandalia Health, announced on Sept. 16 that it will build a small hospital in Bridgeport to serve Harrison County. Announced approval by the West Virginia Department of Health Care. community.

Mon Health System has been looking at the success rate of Mon Health Marion Neighborhood Hospital for the past few months. While researching hospital discharge data, we realized there was an opportunity to improve access to emergency care around Harrison County. They’ve been looking into the Harrison County area for some time, and in July they submitted an application for a certificate to the state’s medical authorities.

Ed Boyle, chairman of the Mon Health System Board of Directors, said health system leadership is excited to begin construction of the small hospital.

Mon Health Harrison Neighborhood Hospital will be a one-story facility in Charles Point near the Bridge Sports Complex and North Central West Virginia Airport. The new hospital is expected to be approximately 20,000 square feet with 10 inpatient beds and 8 emergency beds.

Small hospitals are accredited by Medicare and Medicaid Service Centers and offer hospital-based services, including inpatient and outpatient medical beds, imaging and testing services, and full-service emergency services .

This new smaller hospital will be used for urgent care needs and help patients transition to the next level of care when needed.

“Many of our patients don’t always need surgery or higher levels of what we call interventions and procedures. The model is very affordable, very scalable and very quick to build, and we believe we feel a gap with what is already being implemented in the region. said David Goldberg, President and CEO of Mon Health System.

The developers at Charles Pointe approached Mon Health System with regards to building that particular area. New homes are being built and a new restaurant will also open in the area next year. Charles Pointe presented Mon Health with a master plan, and Mon Health’s president said it makes sense to choose a specific location.
