Here are five things I learned about Ward.
Ward is from Racine, Wisconsin, and is still associated with the badger state. Many in his family are still die-hard Green Bay fans of his Packers, and he recounted his memories of playing on his field for Rambo.
Ward: “Most of my family are Packers fans. Some are 49ers fans because I play here. I have a cousin, Caron Butler, who used to play in the NBA. And he comes to a 49ers game, especially when we play against the Packers. .”
“I know I have to go out there[Rambo Field]and play. If you’ve seen my Packers games, I have some decent games. I have I know a lot of families are watching.”
In his nine seasons with the team, the veteran defensive back has definitely undergone some style changes. He shared his feelings about the evolution of fashion over the years.
Ward: “I stepped my game up. When I first joined the league, I didn’t think much about costumes and stuff. Now it’s different. I’m just trying to look good. I started mixing it up. Rather than going to a store and dressing like a mannequin, I put my taste into it and pay a little more attention to fashion.
The 49ers’ Week 11 trip to Mexico City was Ward’s first trip to Mexico. As several other players have stated, the experience was unforgettable for him.
Ward: “It was crazy. I’m not going to lie. It took me forever to get to the field and get back to the locker room at halftime. That walk was real training. But other than that, I loved it.There were a lot of fans and that stadium was huge.It was my first time to play abroad and my first time to play in Mexico.I would definitely go back. I will come.”
Ward is an accomplished defensive back on the field and enjoys cooking in his spare time off the field.
Ward: “They said I cook? Yeah, I cook. I make a lot of different things. I like making different pasta dishes. I’m a big pasta guy.” I am (now) eating pasta. I should eat pasta every day.”
As the year-end and New Year holidays approach, many people may be worried about presents. Ward shared his favorite gift he’s ever received at a holiday gift exchange.
Ward: “The best thing I ever had was from Antoine Betheer. He picked me up. It was the first time I had a Saint Laurent designer. I knew what it was.” No. He gave me some shirts and some shoes.I didn’t even know what Saint Laurent was, but I’ve been shopping there ever since.”
