To justify the dismissal of Brevard Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Mark Mullins, Moms for Liberty member and school board member Megan Wright said that children physically attacked their teachers. In an interview with WFTV Channel 9, she blamed Dr. Mullins and said the school kids needed more discipline.

Founded here in Brevard County by exiled Brevard School Board member Tina Deskovich, Mother of Liberty advertised its sales with the best-selling t-shirts and most popular slogans. “We don’t co-parent with the government.”

However, many, if not all, parents consider discipline and education part of parenting. Over the past two years, Moms for Liberty and other groups have commonly labeled public educators as child abusers, indoctrinations, pedophiles, racists, and many other derogatory terms, demonizing them. I’ve been their school. A further 42 teachers have resigned since the election of the new school board, according to the teachers’ union.

Elected officials in our state have aggressively tried to defund school districts and, instead of encouraging and recruiting better teachers, have given the military and the police a lack of education and degree education. Offered the position and waived teacher qualification requirements.

They have created an us versus them environment where children are in the middle. At a time when children are witnessing the disrespect and disrespect of public education every day, they are showing similar signs of disrespect in the classroom and on the bus. Can’t blame them though.

In his statement, which offered his resignation instead of termination, Dr. Mullins said he believed unity was the foundation of a successful school system, and continued to call for unity.

Parenting is difficult enough because it’s a task most of us didn’t grow up to be today. Maybe now we need to embrace all the co-parenting help we can get.
