Gujarat Science and Technology Council (GUJCOST) Working for the Future of Science
Gujarat today is a state with the strongest R&D culture with sophisticated lab infrastructure with state-of-the-art equipment in various institutes and college departments for seamless research by faculty and researchers. It prides itself as one of the
Recently, in order to move in the direction of new emerging fields, Param Shabak High-end research is conducted at 26 different engineering and research institutes across the state with supercomputing facilities. These transformative steps have been made possible by the crucial role played by the Gujarat Council for Science and Technology (GUJCOST).
GUJCOST has been supported by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India since September 1986 to promote and enhance the state’s Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) ecosystem. It develops a scientific temperament among students and the general public, promotes research and development and innovation, and creates a culture of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) for the overall socio-economic development of the nation. plays an important role in Dedicated to his STI Policy formulated by the Council, it has proven to be a guiding force in promoting and disseminating S&T activities in the state.
A dedicated STI fund has been created under the STI policy to promote research and development in universities and college departments and to facilitate the pilot deployment of technologies that benefit society from the efforts of individual entrepreneurs. To reach out more to faculty and researchers, GUJCOST also conducts his STI Connect Forums at various universities and colleges. Every year he organizes his ROBOFEST in Gujarat for STEM students.
From 2021 to 2022, GUJCOST has launched annually Gujarat STEM Quiz, Journey of the New Generation. ISRO accredited his GUJCOST as a “Space Tutor” to promote space education and awareness among students and citizens across the state. The Council has also developed a unique network of regional science centers, community science centers, and school science clubs throughout the state to promote and spread STEM. A total of four Regional Science Centers (RSCs) have been established in Patan, Rajkot, Bhavnagar and Bhuj. RSC Patan has the largest dinosaur park in the country, while RSC Bhuj has a unique nanotechnology center, space observatory and bonsai gallery. These centers serve as central hubs to connect people with science for hands-on demonstrations and exposure to develop scientific thinking. In addition, GUJCOST has been tasked with establishing four more of his RSCs in Vadodara, Jamnagar, Junagadh and Surat along with 25 district science centers to strengthen the science communication network in the state. Spread.
The Council maps the state’s scientific and technological needs and networks with a variety of local, national, and international organizations to reach new heights of scientific excellence.
