The success of this ambitious initiative will depend on two key ingredients: inter-campus collaboration and community partnerships. Anna Carpenter, senior director of the Presidential Initiative, who manages West Valley University’s cross-campus work group, said leaders across the University of Utah are fully embracing this new model.
“Many of our healthcare and education leaders say this is the most important job they will do in their careers,” says Carpenter, who is also a law professor at U. We need ongoing input and support from faculty, staff, and administrators across campus. “
Strong community partnerships are also essential and fundamental to the initiative. Drawing on his 20 years of rich community engagement work with University Neighborhood Partners, the U West Valley team is building a shared future with West Valley residents. With the help of UNP, the team has held more than 100 formal meetings of her with community members in the past year. And the work has just begun.
“U West Valley’s goals are bold and require us to transform as a campus and present ourselves in new and different ways to a community that has hitherto been underserved,” said President Taylor Randall. We bring together the power of health care and education, the knowledge and assets of the West Valley community, and our commitment to measuring and taking responsibility for results.By using these elements, we aim to achieve excellence and sustainable excellence. It can create a social impact.”
