City and county public health districts offer diabetes education classes


Corpus Christi, TX – The Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health District and the Texas A&M Coastal Bend Health Education Center (CBHEC) offer free diabetes self-management classes twice a month. Classes are held in the Health District at 1702 Horne Road from 8:30am to 4:30pm.

Attendees must pre-register by calling CBHEC at 361-561-8584.

Participants must have a pre-diabetic or diabetic diagnosis to participate. In-person or online classes are available during the day and evening.

Class topics include:

  • Diabetes overview
  • healthy eating
  • nutrition
  • physical activity
  • medicine
  • blood glucose monitoring
  • foot care
  • mental health
  • goal setting

The class also includes free.

  • wellness screening
  • blood glucose meter
  • glucose strips
  • Lunch (healthy option)
