As fall approaches and swimsuits disappear from Saber’s racks to make room for sweaters, it’s important to know what the cool kids are wearing. That way, you can keep up with trends and pretend your life still matters. That’s why I feel I need to let you know that I saw my first man in a crop top on campus this week.

Now, considering we’re about six years behind the coastal trend here in the Midwest, I wouldn’t say this is cutting edge style. But here, on a land where jean shorts and polo shirts endure the tenacity of prehistoric crustaceans. So, for the first masculine person to wear a crop top, I salute you.

But a day later, my joy had to be tempered when I saw someone brazenly displaying manliness in a midriff shirt on a casual walk. crop top.

As I write this, the students have just started moving into their dorms, so the full fashion report is pending. OK?) can be added to the list. Also, for the feminine: overall shorts. I haven’t seen it on campus yet, but young people are buying vintage sweatshirts embroidered with tiny butterflies and flowers from Marketplace sales. I know that It’s a helmet hair, but now it’s the originator of super cool. Good to know.

I had overall shorts in the 90’s. I wore them a lot. many. I wore them until a guy I liked was too cool for me and eventually appeared on TV as usual.Wow, you really like those shorts. And I don’t think I ever wore them again because they are 78% made up of shame. This is a problem that we do not see in today’s youth. Good for them.

A young lady who I thought was a dormitory student came to my house in a nice Subaru (presumably not a student, a dummy!) to pick up some Marketplace merchandise. She wore a yellow shirt. Is yellow a cool color to wear now? Do not know. She may have worn a yellow shirt. She graduated in 2020, so she knows more than I do. I’m looking to these people for clues.

The other day, as I was scanning my surroundings, I saw a masculine figure scooping up a very steep college hill on an electric skateboard. When I approached their age, grown men in suits were scooting to jobs on Wall Street on Razor scooters. But while this is a trend and a trend that will someday be silly, not today because the future is now.

Get your scissors and cut the t-shirt in half. It’s a new day, a time of change.
