Yankees fans: Here are some tips for dealing with cheating Astros (6 years later)
[ad_1]
It turns out the Yankees and their fans aren’t the only ones still hurt by the Houston Astros cheating scandal that helped them hijack a World Series title in 2017.
After defeating the Yankees in a seven-game American League Championship Series, the Astros defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers in a seven-game World Series – cementing hatred from coast to coast.
And, six years later, LA still means Loathe Astros.

So, Yankees fans: you’re not the only one who hates second baseman Jose Altuve – and everything franchise-related, with Gerrit Cole the only exception. (Hey, being a cheater is worse than being a hypocrite, isn’t it? Especially when you sign a guy to help you beat the cheaters.)
As the Astros once again return to the scene of the crime, Los Angeles Times columnist Bill Plaschke has some advice for Dodgers fans — which also serves Yankees fans well. Never forget :
They wear your rings. They display your trophy. They stole your moment.
There are few times a sports fan has a civic duty, but the three-game series starting Friday at Chavez Ravine is one of those times.
Dodgers fans, give it away Houston Astros hell.
Let them know you will never forget. Let them know that you will never accept. Let them know that while only a handful of players remain from the teams that competed in the twisted 2017 World Seriesit was never about the players.
It was about you. It was an insult to your city. It was a punch to your passion. It was personal.
Boo the organization, which means boo everyone. Sing to Jose Altuve And Alex Bregman, the two active players in this team of cheats. Apply the pressure hard enough that everyone involved in this franchise understands that it’s not over, it never will be over. …
But, you don’t boo dusty baker. You boo the owner of his team, because Jim Crane is still there. You boo baseball’s decision not to punish any player because Commissioner Rob Manfred is still there. You boo those nine days in the fall of 2017 when your pocket was stolen and your memories were assaulted.
Yankees fans continued to heckle Altuve, who apparently reveled in their “Cheater!” and “You suck!” And [Bleep] Altuve! chants with a keystroke or two. Altuve broke his thumb when he was hit by a pitch during the World Baseball Classic, but he’s back.
No other player draws the hatred of Yankees fans quite like Altuve – in part because he’s a terrific player who has beaten the Yankees time and time again, in the regular season and in the playoffs; in part because Yankees fans see him as a cheater who stole a championship and an MVP from Aaron Judge.
Plaschke’s advice — not that Yankees fans need it — carry on.
