When I am playing sports, there are moments when my body shakes unintentionally. That was the case Friday night after seeing the Uvalde High School soccer team make a comeback in their home opener.
With 36 seconds remaining, Uvalde’s offense broke through CC Wynn High School’s defense on a 51-yard run.
On the next play, Uvalde took the lead with a one-handed touchdown reception.
The crowd went wild as Uvalde took a 34-28 lead.
With just 12 seconds left on the clock, Uvalde’s special team and defense did what it took to maintain the lead.
Last year, Uvalde’s football team went 2-8. This season is off to a completely different start.
Uvalde is currently 2-0 with wins over Carrizo Springs and CC Wynn High School this season.
Following the season opener, Elterio Rendon delivered a beautiful message about how the Uvalde community inspires the team.
“This was a sign that 21 angels were looking down on this community and saying they were here, they still exist, and they will continue to exist. Rendon said via ABC.
