biography

Dan R. Glaser is a research geophysicist in the Signature Physics Division of the Cold Region Research and Engineering Laboratory (CRREL) at the US Army Engineers Research and Development Center (ERDC) since 2016. Before he worked at CRREL, he worked as a research geophysicist. He has worked at the US Environmental Protection Agency’s National Exposure Laboratory and as a senior geophysicist in support of the US Department of Energy’s Hanford Nuclear Waste Sanctuary. Since 2000, he has specialized in near-surface geophysical research in environmental and engineering fields, with a recent focus on low-temperature geophysics. Glaser uses his tools for geophysical sensing, including electrical resistivity tomography, spectrally induced polarization, electromagnetic induction, and ground penetrating radar, to elucidate subsurface properties and processes.

Glaser’s research as a Ph.D. Candidates in the Earth & Environmental Science Department at Rutgers University-Newark aim to optimize electromagnetic induction instrumentation to observe macroscale relaxation phenomena, the induced polarization effect. He holds a master’s degree in urban environmental geology with a focus on hydraulics from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a bachelor’s degree in environmental geology with a focus on environmental geophysics from the University of Southern Maine. Glaser is a Professional Geologist (PG) in New Hampshire and Washington and holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. He is the lead author of numerous publications in various journals and has given presentations at over 60 national and international conferences. An AGU member, he Glaser is primarily in the surface geophysics section and then in the hydrology and cryosphere section. He is also a member of the Environmental and Engineering Geophysical Society (EEGS), the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), and the Scientific Research Honor Society (Sigma Xi).
