Pete Buttigieg opens up about twins and health issues for the first time
in a new work written by him Moderate U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg details how he became a father. Buttigieg and her husband Chasten first announced that they were planning to become fathers in August 2021. In early September, the two announced the birth of their first child, Penelope Rose and Joseph Augusto Buttigieg.
“It was what they call a ‘surprise’ adoption scenario. The mother gave birth that day and wanted to arrange an adoption. Moderate Position. The song was written by both Pete and Chasten, but with Pete’s voice. “The agency explained that there were some sensitive circumstances and potential health complications to consider carefully, but they were ready to travel to a local hospital and begin the process. I also explained that you need to quickly determine if you have one, and one more thing to consider: they were twins!”
Hours later, the two men held their prematurely born children in their arms.
“Health issues worried me for about two weeks before I was discharged from the hospital, but the day has finally come,” wrote Pete.
According to the post, Penelope “had severe regurgitation, stopped breathing and turned purple in a matter of seconds, which scared us”.Joseph, whom they nicknamed Gus, also developed a respiratory infection. Now, the Buttigieg family has revealed it was RSV, and the entire family was soon infected, including Pete and Chasten.
By October, we felt confident and comfortable with all the routines (and surprises) of parenting. One day, the children caught a cold. I was coughing right away. Penelope then started having trouble breathing. On FaceTime, our doctor expressed concern about the way her abdomen contracted under her ribs as she tried to get air. took her to the emergency room. His skin looked mottled and by the next day he too was in the hospital. Just like our first days with them, we learned to live outside the hospital room this time in Traverse City. I carried it out of the house and slept beside the children. I tried not to distract the nurse when the phone rang on my work phone.
While most of the family recovered, the gas condition reached “critical” and the child was intubated. He was transferred to Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he spent several days with his family. Pete wrote that he remembered “his father, who lost his battle with lung cancer, spent his last days on a ventilator in his ICU room like this.” With all this going on, he often still had to work. Gus stabilized after a week of him.
Both children, now 1 year old, are now healthy.
With so much of this going on, Buttigieg was under attack from Republicans. Some accused me of taking. Much of it was spent in the hospital. .
