Grayson College serves over 4,000 students with Adult Education and Family Literacy Week just around the corner

Denison, Texas (KXII) – Since July 2020, nearly 4,000 students have enrolled in free adult education classes offered by Grayson Colleges in Collin, Cook, Fannin, and Grayson counties.
This milestone was achieved just days before the annual Adult Education and Family Literacy Week, set for September 18-24. The following weeks will serve as public awareness of the importance of adult education and family literacy.
Despite the growing demand for reading, writing, and basic math, these educational skills remain inaccessible for millions of adults nationwide, including 19% of Grayson County residents. According to a Grayson College press release, the ProLiteracy organization claimed that her 43 million adults in the United States are unable to perform reading, writing or math above her third grade level.
To prevent certain educational necessities from becoming elusive targets, Grayson University will use funds provided by the Texas Workforce Commission to improve the competencies of adult learners at these levels and improve school We prepare for life outside the home and help meet the demands of today’s workforce.
