Get Assist: Due to a shortage of qualified teachers, the Tulsa Public Schools Board of Education announced Tuesday night that Oklahoma City-based schools will offer hybrid instruction in advanced placement physics at several TPS campuses in Oklahoma. Approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the School of Science and Mathematics. .
OSSM provides teachers based at Rogers College High School to record lectures for physics students at Edison and Memorial. The teacher travels as necessary to supervise the student’s lab.

New leadership: The Tulsa School Foundation announced Monday that Moises Echeverria will become the organization’s new president and chief operating officer, effective Sept. 27.
A graduate of East Central High School, Echeverria was previously president and CEO of the Oklahoma Center for Community and Justice. He is also a member of the boards of the Tulsa City and County Library Board, the TPS Community Advisory Board, and the Philbrook Museum and Leadership Board of both Oklahoma and is president of the National Alliance of Just Communities.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and International Business from Oklahoma State University and a Master’s degree in Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma.
Student Praise: On Friday, 16 Union High School students were announced as winners of the College Board’s National Recognition Program.
To be eligible, sophomores and juniors must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher, excel on the PSAT/NMSQT or PSAT 10, or have a score of 3 or higher on at least two Advanced Placement exams. Additionally, eligible students must attend a Black, Hispanic, Indigenous, and/or rural or small-town school.
Winners of the National African American Recognition Award include Khari Carreno, Salyse Dillihay, Ashaylee Gaines, Breanna Leach, Jenaya Monroe, Tolu Oguntayo and Juwura Oyedele.
National Hispanic Recognition Award winners are Colby Brister, Bigbai Flores, Oscar Gomez, Ivan Herrera, Chelsey Molina, Parker Perez Melendez, Rebekah Robison, and Ximena Maya Trevizo.
Kiefer Boyd has been named a recipient of the National Indigenous Recognition Award.
COVID-19 in numbers: Several local school districts released their latest COVID-19 case numbers on Friday.
As of Friday afternoon, Bartlesville Public Schools has reported one case from an employee and four from a student.
Berry Hill reported two cases in the district as a whole. The district does not distinguish between staff and students in reporting.
Collinsville Public Schools reported one case from a staff member and eight from a student.
Glenpool Public Schools reported one case from an employee and none from a student.
Tulsa Public Schools reported 13 cases among employees and 20 among students.
The Tulsa School of Arts and Sciences has reported three infections from employees and five from students.
Skiatook Public Schools did not release updated case numbers before the close of business on Friday.
Bixby, Broken Arrow, Catoosa, Jenks, Owasso, Sand Springs, Sapulpa, and Union have not released updated case numbers at this time.
School Board Calendar: Allen Bowden, Broken Arrow, Claremore, Collinsville, Coweta, Glenpool, Jenks, Kiefer, Liberty, Mounds, Prue, Skiatok, Sperry, Union and Verdigris School Boards are all scheduled to meet on Monday.
The Anderson and Sapalpa school boards are scheduled to meet on Tuesday.
The Inola Public Schools Board of Directors is scheduled to meet on Wednesday.
The state’s CareerTech board meeting is scheduled for Thursday in Oklahoma City.
