COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (KRDO) — The annual Cool Science Festival returns to Colorado Springs on Saturday, September 24th. Our goal is to make science fun.
“We think of this more often than not as informal education,” said Ron Furstenau, president of the Cool Science Commission. I’m trying. Many of the Cool Science volunteers are scientists or engineers and can bring some things to the table that they probably couldn’t do in school. We really like the hands-on and maybe people can Something that has never been associated with science before. We are trying to make science fun for everyone.
The festival consists of 16 days of engaging activities and 70 sponsored events. Everything is hands-on: an underground cave tour at Cave of the Winds, fire training science and proficiency testing at Colorado Springs Fire Department, beer science at Bristol Bristol Brewery, mushroom gardening, stargazing, and a geology tour at Mineral Springs in Manitou .
“We do a lot of stargazing activities and some hiking activities, whether it’s from a natural point of view or not at Garden of the Gods,” Frustenau said. Even something in. There are a lot of different things, but they are all related to science.”
The festival’s biggest and most popular event is Carnival Day on October 1st at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. Science magic shows, experiments, lab tours, demos, rockets, drones, animals and more.
