British fashion publications go dark for Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral – WWD

The majority of UK fashion titles paused the rollout of London Fashion Week and general fashion, beauty and lifestyle content on Monday to focus on the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.
British Vogue announced on its website and on social media that the Princess of Wales, the Duchess of Sussex, Prince George and Princess Charlotte had arrived at the Queen’s funeral at Westminster Abbey, and that the funeral had taken place.
British editions of Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, Grazia and Glamor have taken a similar approach.
Indie fashion titles such as iD, Dazed & Confused, and The Face did not change their websites for the occasion, but they have stopped posting Fashion Week-related content on their social media channels.
Many of the fashion editors of these titles have also decided to follow the British Fashion Council’s guidance not to post street style images of themselves until the day after their funeral.
London Fashion Week was scheduled to run from Friday to Tuesday last week, but there will be no shows or events on Monday. Most of the shows originally scheduled for Monday have been moved to Tuesday.
Richard Quinn, the first winner of the Queen Elizabeth II Awards for British Design, closed out London Fashion Week by moving his show from Sunday night to Tuesday at 7pm.
Quinn is understood to pay tribute to the monarch who accelerated his fashion career when he sat front row and handed the award in 2018. It was her first visit to London Fashion Week. did.
