Seven more Boone County residents have been added to the county’s COVID-19 death toll.

The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Social Services said Friday that the deaths occurred between early July and mid-August. One deceased was in the group from He’s 70 to He’s 74, the department reported.

The seven newly reported deaths since the COVID-19 pandemic began in early 2020 bring the county’s total to 255.

The health department also reported 47 new COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began, bringing the total to 51,226. Most counties in central Missouri have low or moderate COVID-19 community levels, as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, state health officials reported Friday. The only exception was Randolph County, which was in the higher community level category.

At the community level, both new cases and hospital admissions are considered.
