Bay Waveland School District Schools Receive Science of Reading

The Mississippi Department of Education has designated seven elementary schools as “Mississippi’s New Reading Science” schools for the 2022-2023 school year.
Five of the seven schools are on the coast.
Today, North Bay Elementary School and Waveland Elementary School celebrated their Science in Reading School achievements by hosting a school-wide celebration.
This accreditation is given to schools that have trained teachers in the science of reading, demonstrated changes in teaching practices, and embodied a school culture focused on the development of proficient and strong readers in kindergarten through third grade. You can Principal Dr. Sandra Reed said: It truly shows the overall effort staff put into reading and the importance of reading in our school district. ”
Three schools in the Pascagoula-Gautier School District will be accredited on Tuesday.
