Indie pop R&B star Arlo Parks took to Twitter to cancel a string of shows in the US, writing, “I’m broken.”
Parks began her U.S. career earlier this month, but recently canceled eight tour dates from September 14th to September 24th to preserve her mental health. The British artist said her mental health had “deteriorated debilitatingly” and she was left “burned out”.
“I’ve spent the last 18 months on and off, filling every minute in between, training myself to the bone,” Parks wrote. Tweet“People around me started to worry, but I was afraid of disappointing my fans and myself. I did.”
She is now “in a very dark place, exhausted and dangerously depressed” and is taking time to recuperate and is returning to London. It will start on September 26th.
“I don’t make decisions like this lightly, but I’m broken and really need to get out and go home and take care of myself,” she added. I will do everything I can to resolve it – for now I am able to get a refund where I purchased it. It’s a dream to have fans like you.I’ll be back.I love AP.”
In 2021, Parks won the Brit Award for Best New Artist and the Mercury Prize for Album. Collapsed by the sun’s rays.
