Staten Island, NY – The days of following science when it comes to COVID-19 have truly come to an end in New York City.

If we ever really followed science.

Mayor Eric Adams last Tuesday lifted vaccination mandates for the city’s private sector workers and public school students who participate in extracurricular activities such as sports and music.

Please give credit to the mayor for finally completing those duties, even if the move was long overdue.

But Adams has pointlessly maintained a vaccine mandate for city employees.

When asked by reporters why the restrictions were being maintained, the mayor said it was imperative that New York City “send the right message and lead by example” when it came to vaccinations and boosters.

It’s not a science-based decision. Didn’t Adams hear President Joe Biden say the pandemic was over? Oh yes, the White House later retracted the president’s comments.

Adams is in the box that Mayor Bill de Blasio put him in. It was de Blasio who demanded that all city employees be vaccinated or fired. Adams could have terminated his term on his first day in office, but he refused. Many more workers were laid off.

And for what? For refusing to get vaccinations they didn’t agree to when they got the job.

Cities would have been far wiser to actively encourage vaccinations rather than require 100% compliance under the threat of termination.

That would have given the city time to see how the pandemic really played out and how well a vaccine could help stem the flow of the virus in the population.

But no. Not only is Adams staying in the box De Blasio put him in, but the mayor has closed the lid.

And now we see how the pandemic unfolded. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the U.S. population has high levels of protection from her COVIDD-19, thanks to vaccines, acquired immunity in people who have contracted the virus and recovered, or both.

It makes up about 95% of the population, says the CDC. Government agencies no longer distinguish between those who have been vaccinated and those who have not.

In other words, thousands of unvaccinated New York City employees don’t bring us back to the bad days of the pandemic.

But Adams still distinguishes between vaxxed and unvaxxed. vaxxed can keep the job. unvaxxed gets booted.

What science does Adams know that the CDC and the rest of the world don’t? Could be the same type of junk science that former Governor Andrew Cuomo demanded to order food with drinks at bars It’s as if food protects us from viruses.

Retaining the mission saves the city from having to hire laid-off workers and take on the daunting task of figuring out how to compensate for lost wages.

Throughout the pandemic, experts like Dr. Anthony Fauci say guidance on the virus is continually evolving. As such, the masking guidance has changed over time. Remember?

But now the pandemic has evolved significantly. The US population has strong protections against COVID-19. We fought the beast, as Cuomo likes to call it the virus.

But Adams is still adamant about his mission. Immunization is no longer a medical necessity. It’s now a social credit score. Vaccines are fine. Those who are not vaccinated are bad.

At a press conference on Tuesday, Adams said, “I don’t think anything dealing with COVID means anything. There’s no logical path. What can be done.”

We couldn’t agree more, Mr. Mayor.
