MARSHALL — Education and public safety were some of the key issues that gubernatorial candidate Scott Jensen addressed at the Lyon County Republican Party dinner on Friday. In his interview, he elaborated a bit more on his positions on some of these topics.

“I think public safety is huge, and I think the economy is huge.” Jensen spoke about the key issues of this election. “Obviously, we need to let the miners do the mines, we need the farmers to farm. Our school system needs to be fully aware of how important it is to have teachers teach. .”

Regarding education in Minnesota, Jensen said: “We need to fund children, not broken institutions.”

“If parents are frustrated with giving their kids opportunities based on their zip code, I think it’s time to make sure they are not restricted. Let’s make it possible.” He said.

Jensen said he’s also heard concerns statewide about school curricula. There was an important difference between “Basic education” And indoctrination, he said.

“I think parents want to know what the curriculum is. You can learn basic American history that has never been done before.” He said. Jensen said he heard his concerns about critical race theories. “hypersexuality” elementary and junior high school children.

Jensen said she believes in transparency for parents who want to know more about their child’s school curriculum.

Jensen also spoke about his position on abortion rights in Minnesota. Abortion rights are not an issue on the Minnesota vote, nor is it an issue that the governor of Minnesota influences, he said.

“The (Minnesota) Supreme Court has already interpreted the Constitution to provide for constitutionally protected access to abortion.” Jensen said.
