R.Ready or not, we’re at the forefront of New York Fashion Week. It starts at the Proenza Schouler show on Friday 9th September and ends with Tom Ford’s big finale on Wednesday 14th September. The Pantone Color Institute has sneakily revealed the colors you’ll see on the runway this year. Think of it like a preview of what to include in your Spring/Summer 2023 wardrobe.

What color did the Pantone Color Institute pick for its Spring/Summer 2023 Fashion Color Trends report? Don’t worry as everything will be fine.

The standout colors in the top 10 are vibrant tones such as fiery red and purplish pink called beetroot purple. Bold tangelo orange and peach pink sherbet shades flow into the most lemony ‘luminous’ empire yellow and the palest exotic lovebird. Pantone’s choice of color is not a shrinking violet. In fact, Murasaki will get a full hard pass next spring.

Then there are the new classics that lead us to coastal granny chic, a melange of neutrality and rustic elegance.

Pantone shows a clear direction for neutrals with two off-white shades that carry a hint of color. They predict it will be new for spring.I added a little color to the off-white to create a neutral that goes with anything. Called Gray Lilac and Vanilla Cream, these off-white colors offer a clean, bright contrast with vibrant, bold hue vibrancy. There is also a Southern Porch shade called Skylight Blue. And the off-brown macchiato shade that “has a layer of bubbles” just makes you want to stroll down the beach.

These shades of spring are sure to hit the runways during fashion week. They see colors that express freedom and whimsy. From energetic to serene. From chaos to silence.

New York Fashion Week’s preliminary schedule includes 110 confirmed designers. This year marks his 60th anniversary of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), the organizer and official scheduler (or ringmaster, if you will) of fashion’s biggest circus.
