new episodes of future identification We continue the conversation between Catholic intellectual design biologist Michael Behe and Catholic theologian Matthew Ramage. Both agree that nature points to the designer of the universe, but Ramage believes, for aesthetic reasons, that the biological realm has a God-given ability to create life without the need for divine intervention. Behe notes that people have different aesthetic tastes, but the scientist’s work is more about how things happen in nature. It is not a matter of understanding what they are, but of discovering how they actually arise. It does not follow that many of the complex shapes found arise purely from the laws of nature.
