Richardson ISD received a B rating from the Texas Department of Education under the state’s school accountability system.

Two-thirds of the district’s campuses received either an A or B rating, the district said in a statement.

Superintendent Tabitha Branham said in a prepared statement, “We are very encouraged by the progress and improvement in our students’ academic performance.” This is reflected in significantly improved state scores, and the ratings of these schools largely reflect that. We absolutely need to keep our focus on improving our performance, but overall, we have positive momentum going into 2022-2023.”

This evaluation marks the first school district and school since 2019.

Grades for primary and secondary schools are based on STAAR (State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness) standardized test scores.

Under Senate Bill 1365, a pandemic-era law, some campuses will need an additional year of recovery before being evaluated.

Campuses with an overall rating of less than 70 receive a No Rating designation. Other campuses are rated either A, B, or C.
