Manchester, NH – Kyle Hart spun 5.0 scoreless innings, homers from Sedan Rafalea and Christian Kos led the Portland Sea Dogs (66-60, 36-21) to a six-game series sweep, 5-0 won in They outscored the New Hampshire Fisher-Cats (52-74, 21-36) at Delta Dental Stadium on Sunday.
The win gave the Sea Dogs their longest winning streak of the season. The previous season’s high was set between July 3rd and he was set between July 12th.
Portland entered the scoring row at the top of the first inning against New Hampshire starter Jimmy Robbins. After two strikeouts to start the inning, Ceddanne Rafalea hit a home run to left center. It was his 11th home run of the season, giving the Sea Dogs a 1-0 lead.
The Sea Dogs extended their lead in the top of the fourth. Rafaela took the lead with a triple, and Christian Cos hit a home run to right. It was his 16th long his ball of the season for him and extended Portland’s lead to his 3–0.
With New Hampshire reliever Yosver Zulueta on the mound, another run was scored in the top of the sixth. Cos was hit by a pitch, stole second base, and advanced to third base on an error by Orerbis Martinez. Izzy Wilson singled Cos to center to extend the Sea Dogs’ lead to 40.
Portland tackled its final run in the top of the seventh. Wilyer Abreu and Elih Marrero walked. Rafaela hit the fielder’s choice and after two rundowns that left Abreu and Rafaela out, Marrero scored to make it 5–0.
Again in the series, the Sea Dogs bullpen keep New Hampshire quiet for the rest of the game. Hart was ejected after his 5.0 innings scoreless, and Jacob Wallace took over his 1.0 innings scoreless. Oddanier Mosqueda gave his 2.0 perfect innings in which he recorded five strikeouts, and Cody Scroggins recorded his three outs in the final to help him seal his 5-0 Sea Dogs victory.
Hart (1-1, 5.29 ERA) went 5.0 scoreless innings with four hits, two walks and three strikeouts for his first win of the season. Robbins (0-2, 2.84 ERA) pitched his 5.0 innings, allowing 3 of his runs on 6 hits, walking 1 and striking out 4 for his second loss of the year.
The Sea Dogs enjoy a league-wide off Monday before returning to Hadlock Field on Tuesday for a six-game series against the Binghamton Rumble ponies with the first pitch at 6 p.m.
