Beyond Matthew Gagnon’s mean reaction to the loan forgiveness program (http://observer-me.com/2022/08/31/opinion/i-sacrificed-to-pay-off-my-student-loans-that -now-looks like a vacation plan/), which basically boils down to “I suffered, you should suffer too”, but there are some truths.

One is that student loan interest rates are so high, exorbitant compared to federal interest rates that have been near zero for years. Second, college tuition has risen 200-500% in the last few decades, he said. One of the reasons for the skyrocketing costs is that states have cut their budgets significantly for their support to public universities. Due to the high cost of college, only the wealthy can afford to send their children to college, and their children will not be plagued with debt for the rest of their lives. And many of those children are in debt without even being able to finish college for various reasons and without the resources to find better paying jobs to pay off their debts.

We need to change public education from K-12 to Pre-K-14 and 15-16 at low cost and include vocational schools within it. We are in the 21st century and he still operates like he is in the 20th century. Do we want to stay behind other developed countries or do we want to lead? What do we prioritize spending our tax money on? War or Prosperity?
