The Wilson Area Partners of the Education Foundation and Magellan Behavioral Health of Pennsylvania are working together to reduce anxiety among elementary and middle school students in the Wilson Area.
Easton, Pennsylvania (September 27, 2022) — To help students in the Wilson Area identified as having high levels of anxiety, Wilson Area Partners in Education Foundation (WAPEF) is partnering with Pennsylvania’s Magellan Behavioral Health (Magellan Healthcare). to create a calming kit containing tools and information on how to manage stress in a school environment.
In October, 80 individual kits will be distributed to selected students in grades K-8 within the Wilson Area School District. Examples of therapeutic items in the kit include Kinetic Sand™, Legos™, Calming Rings, Scented Colored Pencils, Calming Coloring Book, Playdoh™, Liquid Timer, Journaling, and Helping Students Relax. Includes an overview of breathing techniques to help you.
Kimberly Hopkins, executive director of the Wilson Area Partners in Education Foundation, said: “Unfortunately, more and more students suffer from anxiety, so it is important to give them tools to help them navigate stressful times in school and hopefully in their lives.”

In addition to providing financial assistance, Magellan Healthcare employees worked with WAPEF representatives and school district administrators to assemble sedation kits on Monday, September 26.
