MAYVILLE — The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration has awarded the Chautauqua County Department of Mental Health a grant for the advancement and improvement of Chautauqua County’s accredited community behavioral health clinics. Starting Friday, the grant will include $1 million per year for him over four years. The department received Accredited Community Behavioral Health Clinic designation in 2020 under a previous grant. This designation has a positive impact on the accessibility of community clinics.

Accredited community behavioral health clinics have dramatically increased access to treatment for mental health and substance use disorders and expanded our capacity to address overdose crises. We have established innovative partnerships with organizations, schools and hospitals to improve care, reduce recidivism and address health disparities.

“Our accredited community behavioral health clinics are designated to support and advance efforts we have begun to improve access to high-quality behavioral health services.” Chautauqua County Department of Mental Health Deputy Director and Clinic Projects Director Trish McClennan said: “Working with our community partners, CCBHC is another step in strengthening Chautauqua County’s service network.”

Chautauqua County will use the funds to improve access to community-based recovery services, expand its mobile crisis team dedicated to youth, and strengthen care coordination and peer specialist services. The funds will support this work towards a collaborative, responsive and accountable behavioral health system that emphasizes recovery, hope, excellence, respect and safety.
