That’s when science world’s lights come back to life (PHOTOS)

After Science World turned off the lights illuminating its iconic waterfront orb, the False Creek breakwater is darker than usual this summer.
But the good news is that the lights should be back on soon — probably within a week.
Science World spokesperson Larissa Dundon told the Daily Hive Urbanized: “They were offline last night because the Queen passed away.”

During the pandemic, Science World struggled to keep the orbs lit because supply chain issues prevented them from sourcing specialized parts.
A major stagnation is due to the global microchip shortage, which is also affecting the automotive industry.
Once Science World had the necessary parts, they had to wait until a special contractor was available to rappel the dome for installation.

By August, breakers were turned off for the entire dome.
“The dome lights are off as we work to resolve some technical challenges,” Science World says on its website.
Science World usually takes requests to light up the dome in specific colors for special events and charities.

After installing the new bulb and controller, the Science World dome should be fully lit again.
“Lights are an important part of the community and a great opportunity to celebrate special nights, events and more,” said Dundon.
