Washington – of Howard University School of Theology We are pleased to announce the launch of Clinical Pastoral Education Program The HUSD CPE program is fully accredited by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education and offers Level I and Level II programming.

The focus of CPE training is to prepare leaders to effectively serve people in a variety of pastoral care settings, including hospitals, hospices, prisons, universities, and corporate workplaces. Employ clinical methods in the setting and enable the pastoral formation, pastoral competence and pastoral reflection necessary to deliver quality pastoral care in clinical and non-clinical settings. CPE instruction includes hands-on ministry at designated locations. Student participation in weekly individual and group reflections on pastoral ministry with a supervisor. As well as the study of theoretical material from theology, behavioral sciences and pastoral care. CPE preparation integrates knowledge of theological understanding and behavioral sciences into pastoral functions.

A National Advisory Group of Pastors, Pastors, and Clinicians, along with Barbara Fears, Assistant Professor of Religious Education, and Michael Washington, D.C.E., Certified CPE Educator, worked diligently for two years to develop the Worked together to meet certification requirements.
