“Perfect” for fashion influencers

All 2025 Class of 2025 Sean Grady needed to launch his career as a fashion influencer was an email from his marketing professor about an internship opportunity at a luxury clothing brand.
“We thought this would be a good fit,” says the marketing major. “I love people, I love fashion”
After being hired as an intern at marketing agency Riddle & Bloom, Grady ended up working as a student brand ambassador for Madewell, a popular denim brand owned by the J. Crew Group.
Grady was responsible for driving Madewell’s brand awareness across the Suffolk campus and on social media during the spring semester. He’s been so successful that he was recently hired by his online commerce giant Amazon in the same role starting this fall.
“Sean understands what it takes to promote and sell a product,” says marketing professor Bob Cargill, who emailed students in the Marketing Principles course about Madewell’s internship. “He’s likeable, approachable, and persuasive, people buy products and services from people they like and trust. He knows how to get attention for good reason.”
Grady said many of Cargill’s strategies were incorporated into the marketing plan, including the importance of the four P’s: product, location, price and promotion. “Professor Cargill helped me throughout my internship,” he says.
As a Madewell ambassador, Grady challenged himself to “meet as many people as possible, anywhere, anytime, to promote the brand.” She visited an organization run by students. He also used his personal Instagram account to regularly post pictures of himself wearing Madewell gear and even gave discounts to his followers.
