Sarasota Military Academy (SMA) cadets find a new addition to campus when they arrive for the new semester. Through a partnership with the Sarasota County Education Foundation, the Student Success Center is open and staffed by two student success coaches. At the Student Success Center on SMA’s campus, students work one-on-one with a Student Success Coach to identify their goals and interests and map their path to college, military, and career pursuits after high school. Individualized services to help cadets plan for the future include workshops on paying for college, writing essays and resumes, and more.
Education Foundation President and CEO Jennifer Vigne said: Meet those students where they are. Located in downtown Sarasota, SMA serves approximately 700 students in grades 9-12.
“Having seen first-hand the difference LaunchPad4U has made across the community in downtown Sarasota, this deal with SMA gives us the opportunity to customize our Student Success Center model for SMA students and connect directly with them. It’s inspiring because it gives students more options and prepares them to seize the opportunities that move them further in life,” says Vigne.
SMA-COL Interim Principal and CEO Christina Bowman said: We believe the benefits will expand their opportunities and have a positive impact for generations to come. ”
