Nobilio wins Women’s British Open in playoff fashion

Nobilio, who posted a 74-68-74-71 record in the tournament, birdies on the 71st and 72nd holes to tie Sauber at par +7 and advance to the extra hole.
To get to that point, Nobilio was tasked with completing an up-and-down on the par-5 18th hole after hitting a greenside bunker on his approach shot.
“We were very nervous on the 18th. We knew we had a chance[to push through the playoffs],” Nobilio said. “I put it on the green and made a mistake, but I’m good at bunker shots, so I thought I could get a birdie.”
She did just that and dropped an eight-foot putt.
Nobilio sealed the win with a 20-foot birdie putt across the slopes on the third extra playoff hole of the par-4 1st hole. Nobilio claimed her silverware in front of her father Alfonso, who had not seen her compete in her two years.
“I wish I could spend more time with him on the golf course,” Nobilio said. I grew up with him on the course. I am very grateful to him. I would also like to dedicate this victory to his grandfather Dante, who has recently been ill, and his mother Chiara, who has been cheering us on from Italy!”
It is Nobilio’s first win of the offseason leading into his sophomore year.
