Kathmandu: The Ministry of Science and Technology has carried out work related to astronomy and space science.
For this reason, the ministry established a space science department within the ministry.
At a program held on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) in Kathmandu on Monday, Santosh Sharma, deputy secretary and section head of the ministry, said the establishment of the section will promote activities related to astronomy. It said it aims to coordinate, integrate and facilitate. and space science.
As NASO Chairman Suresh Bhatterai said, the organization was founded by a group of Tri-Chandra university students with the aim of promoting science and technology by conducting astronomy and space science related activities.
Dr. Dinesh Raj Bhuju, member of the National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), acknowledged NASO’s role in promoting science and technology in the country.
Program participants demanded a better environment for conducting astronomy and space science investigations and research in the country.
As the organization said, its programs are designed for elementary school children to university-level researchers to foster a scientific disposition in society.
