Wilmington, North Carolina (WECT) – A document shared with WECT by officials at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center confirms that the state is recommending that the hospital return to good standing with Medicare and Medicaid service centers. is showing. An earlier investigation on June 29 placed the hospital’s status in “imminent danger” due to patient safety concerns.

Hospitals were put in imminent danger for failing to comply with partnership requirements on patient rights, nursing services, emergency services, quality assessment and performance improvement, and governance bodies. Both studies were conducted by the Medicare and Medicaid Services Division of the North Carolina Center for Health and Human Services. State Medicare regulators recommend removing the emergency status after conducting follow-up from August 8-11.

If the partnership expires, Medicare will stop paying inpatients after August 12 and may stop paying inpatients before the deadline.
