Marimekko is committed to the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
Marimekko is committed to the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) to set science-based emissions reduction targets. Marimekko has already announced ambitious targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in 2020. With its commitment to the Science Based Targets initiative, Marimekko will set even more explicit targets for reducing emissions across its value chain, in line with the UN Paris Agreement. The Paris Climate Agreement aims to limit global warming to below 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels and to pursue efforts to limit temperature rise to below 1.5 degrees Celsius.

Within two years, according to the SBTi schedule, Marimekko will set science-based emission reduction targets in line with the Paris Agreement. The Science Based Target Initiative is a collaboration of WWF (World Wildlife Fund), CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project), WRI (World Resources Institute) and the United Nations Global Compact. The aim of this initiative is to guide business practices in science-based emissions reductions.
