Lynchburg Named Best Virginia College for Criminology, Public Health, Education, Environmental and Sports Sciences – Lynchburg University

Lynchburg University is recognized as the top school in Virginia for several undergraduate programs in the 2022 Plexuss Global Rankings. Most notably, Lynchburg ranked 2nd in Virginia and 65th nationally for its criminology programs.
The university also earned third place in the state’s public health program. It ranks 7th in Environmental Sciences and 8th in Sports Sciences, Education, Leisure and Fitness Programs. Environmental studies came in ninth. Several other Lynchburg programs were ranked in the top 20, 30, and 40.

Dr. Kim McCabe, professor of criminology at Lynchburg, said:
Criminology is one of the college’s most popular majors, with 126 students enrolling this fall. In total, there are 246 students in his major in the Faculty of Social Sciences. At the University of Health Sciences, he has 432 undergraduate students. Of the total 338 students in the Faculty of Science, there are 30 students in the Environmental Science major.
“We are thrilled that our public health program has once again been named the best program in the state,” said Dr. Rusty Smith, Dean of the College of Health Sciences in Lynchburg. “We provide our students with the best possible educational experience, both on campus and in the community, to prepare them for life after college.”
Plexuss rankings include only undergraduate programs, but Lynchburg also offers a master’s degree in public health and several graduate and doctoral health science degrees.
Plexuss is listed in US News & World Report, Forbes’ America’s Top Colleges, Times Higher Education World University Rankings (Reuters), QS World University Rankings, and The Academic Ranking of World Universities (Shanghai Rankings).
Like other college ranking websites, Plexuss does not recommend using the list as your sole guide when choosing a college.
